Our upcoming Friday Staged reading begins as a sequel to Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, and ends as a hilarious interrogation into the nature of free will. The playwright, John Poole, recently played the part of Sir Toby Belch in the Hyde Park Players’ Twelfth Night. It was the third time he had been involved in that play in three different capacities. The treatment of the character of Malvolio has always bothered Mr. Poole, to the point of finally writing something about it. Revenge for Malvolio! But a modern revenge…whatever that means. Thirteenth Morning is written in approximately 1/4 iambic pentameter, 3/4 modern prose. A warning, fantatical Shakespearean purists will have their views challenged, but lovers of Twelfth Night will be delighted.
