Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” – THE AUDITIONS!

May 2, 2019 2 Comments

This summer, on the last two weekends of July (19-21, 26-28), for its 4th Annual Shakespeare in the Park, Hyde Park Community Players will present that perennial favorite

A Midsummer Night’s Dream

We’re holding auditions:

Wednesday, May 15, 6-9 pm

Saturday, May 18, 12 noon – 3 pm

at Augustana Lutheran Church, 5500 S. Woodlawn Avenue

We’re looking for this to be a high octane, high fun show!  We’re planning to frontload the memorization process to make possible a collaborative evolution to the perfect show for here and now!

We plan to make magic!

There’s no need to prepare anything.  Bring your enthusiasm and your outdoor voices to the auditions and help us work the enchantment!

We’ll be casting all parts:

The young lovers (small Hermia, tall Helena, lovesick Lysander, self-righteous Demetrius); Duke Theseus & his bride-to-be Hippolyta, queen of the Amazons; Egeus (the heavy father); Oberon & Titania (king and queen of the fairies); Puck (aka Robin Goodfellow); Nick Bottom, the weaver, & the whole crew of “rude mechanicals;” fairies galore and more and more.

Got children who are interested?  Come to the auditions to explore the possibilities of children in the fairy chorus.

See you there!

Note well: We are committed to open casting. Friends of all genders, colors, and backgrounds are encouraged to audition.

I played Titania in junior high in Akron, OH in 1964.
