Hyde Park Community Players return to Nichols Park this summer, presenting Pop-Up Shakespeare, beautiful, famous and funny scenes from the plays. Dotted around Nichols Park at three stations, scenes will run simultaneously, starting at 6:00 p.m., each Friday and Saturday, August 20-21, 27-28, September 3-4. Each scene will run three times, so you’ll be able to move from scene to scene each evening and see the “whole show.”
Our first weekend, you can hear Shakespearean recorder duets by two members of UChicago’s Early Music Ensemble, and on the final Friday, September 10, see a performance by the Pullman Morris Dancers.
There will be kids’ activities every night. The scheduled RAIN DATE is September 10.
The Players’ Pop-Up Shakespeare is free and open to the public; donations are gratefully accepted.
