Founded in January of 2009, the Hyde Park Community Players is a nonprofit, amateur, volunteer organization whose mission is to create compelling theatre by and for residents of the South Side.
Our typical season consists of 2-3 full productions plus our annual ‘radio’ show, An Evening of Horror and Suspense, which has become a Hyde Park Halloween tradition. In addition to the mainstage productions, we host a monthly series of staged readings and a number of workshops.
Our repertoire reflects the diversity of our company and the community in which we live. Past productions include The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, The Tempest, Rhinoceros, The Good Doctor, Les Liaisons Dangereuses, Musical of Musicals! (The Musical), Arcadia, Proof, Jar the Floor, Picasso at the Lapin Agile, The Flying Doctor, and many others.
The Hyde Park Community Players welcomes all South Siders. No prior experience with theatre is necessary. Anyone is welcome to attend our public meetings. We hold open auditions for all of our mainstage productions. We are committed to non-traditional casting. All of our shows are produced in Hyde Park.
