Imagine your town is dying. Would you do anything to save it? What if that came at a price? That’s the dilemma facing the inhabitants of an unnamed small town in eastern Ohio, where the steel and coal industries are long gone … but “fracking” for oil and natural gas is new—and booming. As they travel down the same stretch of highway one day in winter, several people from this lightly fictionalized town tell us how life used to be, what kind of future they wish for, and what they think of this new enterprise that could either save their world or destroy it right underneath them.

(Note: The source material for this reading is a poetry book; copies will be available for an additional $5 each.)
