Please join us for Stop Kiss auditions on Sunday, February 8, from 2 to 5 p.m., and Tuesday, February 10, from 6 to 9 p.m. Auditions are held at Augustana Lutheran Church (5500 S. Woodlawn Ave). No preparation necessary. Readings and character descriptions will be provided.
Show dates are April 10-12 and 17-19.
When Sara and Callie first meet in 1990s New York City, sparks fly … maybe. Over late-night conversations, wine, and takeout, they get to know each other and take tentative steps toward a romantic relationship. When their first kiss is ended by a violent, homophobic attack, they’re forced to make big decisions about the future and whether they’ll spend it together or apart.
By Diana Son
Directed by Marilyn Cavicchia
Actors of all genders, races, communities, and backgrounds are encouraged to audition.

Characters:
CALLIE: late 20s to early 30s, a woman, has lived in New York since college. Likes to come across as confident and secure but actually hates confrontation and avoids making decisions.
SARA: mid-20s to early 30s, a woman, just moved to New York from a suburb of St. Louis. Sweet, sunny, and idealistic but has a strong backbone. It took guts for her to move to New York.
GEORGE: late 20s to early 30s, a man, dear friend (with benefits) of CALLIE. Struggles to figure out his place in CALLIE’s life now that SARA is in the picture.
PETER: mid-20s to early 30s, a man, recent ex-boyfriend of SARA. Not keen on SARA’s move to New York, assumes she’ll “move back home.”
MRS. WINSLEY: 40+, a woman. A bit judgmental but very proud of the way she intervenes when SARA and CALLIE are attacked.
DETECTIVE COLE: 30s to 60s (logical age to be working as a detective), no gender indicated in script. Relentless in getting CALLIE to tell the whole truth about the attack.
NURSE: 20s to 60s (logical age to be working as a nurse), no gender indicated in script. Treats CALLIE and SARA with respect and kindness at a pivotal moment.
Notes:
If you were cast in MonteCristo2020, we can’t wait to see you onstage! However, please do not also audition for Stop Kiss.
This show includes onstage intimacy (kissing, hugging, etc.), references to violence that does not occur onstage, and partial undress. At auditions, character descriptions will be marked accordingly, and no undress or physical touch will be expected at that time. The show will have an intimacy coordinator. The production team is committed to ensuring emotional safety and respecting actors’ comfort levels.
