A Christmas Carol

by Charles Dickens

adapted and directed by Dorothy Parsons

Friday, December 9th

7:00 pm

at Augustana Lutheran Church, 5500 S. Woodlawn Avenue

Note the earlier time, to accommodate young audiences!  Bring the kids!

A Christmas Carol tells the beloved story of Ebenezer Scrooge, a crotchety miser who hates Christmas and mistreats his long-suffering employee, devoted family man Bob Cratchit. But a visit by the ghost of his former business partner and the spirits of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet to Come might convince him to change his ways and become more kindhearted. The story captures several aspects of the Christmas holiday, including family gatherings, seasonal food and drink, carols, games, and a festive generosity of spirit.

This adaptation is inspired by the 1938 film version, one of the earliest cinematic adaptations of Charles Dickens’ classic.  It focuses more on the supporting characters than the grimmer parts of the story. With added carols and a talented cast of all ages, this staged reading of the timeless tale is the perfect way to celebrate the holiday season!
$5.00 for the performance, home-made holiday treats & a moderated discussion. We ask all to mask when not performing or eating.
