A Midsummer Mingle-Mangle: Shakespeare Scenes at Nichols Park

July 8, 2026 Leave a Comment

It’s almost that time again! Grab your blanket or chair, a pal or two, and some snacks, and come see us at Nichols Park for summer Shakespeare!

Nichols is between Kimbark Avenue and Kenwood Avenue, from 53rd to 55th. This year, we’ll perform scenes from several Shakespeare plays at locations throughout the park. Stroll through the park to catch every scene … and plan to come back again, because each night will be different!

All shows will start at 6:00 p.m. Here’s what you’ll see each night, and where each scene will be:

Friday, July 24:

Measure for Measure (north tree)
Pyramus and Thisbe (dog hill)
Taming of the Shrew (tennis courts)
Monologues and songs (wildflower meadow)

Saturday, July 25:

Measure for Measure (north tree)
Monologues and songs (wildflower meadow)
Hamlet (dog hill)
Macbeth (tennis courts)

Sunday, July 26:

Measure for Measure (north tree)
Hamlet (dog hill)
Taming of the Shrew (tennis courts)
Monologues and songs (wildflower meadow)

Friday, July 31:

Hamlet (dog hill)
Macbeth (tennis courts)
Two Gentlemen of Verona/A Winter’s Tale (north tree)
Romeo and Juliet (wildflower meadow)

Saturday, August 1:

Pyramus and Thisbe (dog hill)
Two Gentlemen of Verona/A Winter’s Tale (north tree)
Taming of the Shrew (tennis courts)
Romeo and Juliet (wildflower meadow)

Sunday, August 2:

Pyramus and Thisbe (dog hill)
Macbeth (tennis courts)
Two Gentlemen of Verona/A Winter’s Tale (north tree)
Romeo and Juliet (wildflower meadow)

Afraid you’ll get lost? You won’t! Helpful Players will be on hand to guide people from one scene to the next. There is no ticket cost for this event — just come on out. If you’d like to donate a little something we appreciate it, of course, and we’ll have our gold hats at the ready.
