A Midsummer Mingle-Mangle: Shakespeare Scenes at Nichols Park (We’re back outside on 8/2!)

July 8, 2026 Leave a Comment

Please Note: No more rain in the forecast, so we’re back to Nichols for our final performances on Sunday, August 2. Huzzah!

It’s almost that time again! Grab your blanket or chair, a pal or two, and some snacks, and come see us at Nichols Park for summer Shakespeare!

Nichols is between Kimbark Avenue and Kenwood Avenue, from 53rd to 55th. This year, we’ll perform scenes from several Shakespeare plays at locations throughout the park. Stroll through the park to catch every scene … and plan to come back again, because each night will be different!

All shows will start at 6:00 p.m. Here’s what you’ll see each night, and where each scene will be:

Friday, July 24:

Measure for Measure (wildflower meadow)
Pyramus and Thisbe (dog/sledding hill)
Taming of the Shrew, monologues and music (tennis courts)

Saturday, July 25:

Measure for Measure (wildflower meadow)
Hamlet (dog/sledding hill)
Macbeth (tennis courts)

Sunday, July 26:

Measure for Measure (wildflower meadow)
Hamlet (dog/sledding hill)
Taming of the Shrew, monologues and music (tennis courts)

Friday, July 31:

Macbeth/Two Gentlemen of Verona/A Winter’s Tale  (tennis courts)  Augustana

Saturday, August 1:

NEW LOCATION: Augustana Lutheran Church (5500 S. Woodlawn Ave.)

Afraid you’ll get lost? You won’t! Helpful Players will be on hand to guide people from one scene to the next. There is no ticket cost for this event — just come on out. If you’d like to donate a little something, we appreciate it, of course, and we’ll have our gold hats at the ready.
